This line got me thinking: since oil is both finite (in fact close to start its terminal decline) and polluting, actually all countries should start to wean themselves off of it. The problem is, that rich countries are hiding these facts behind a green veil, not being honest even to their own citizens. Thus exploitation continues and the illusion of material prosperity is continued to be presented as a viable future both for developed and yet to be developed countries— while in fact it will reserved only for the very rich and famous, like Jim.
