The so called infinity train works only downhill (when it carries rocks/ores) from a higher to a lower altitude. The problem here is that long distance train services roll through open plains for thousands of miles (hence they cannot be electrified reasonably). Not mention the million nautical miles covered by cargo ships... In case of mining copper (the most critical metal for electrification) mines are just enormous holes in the ground, where stuff needs to travel uphill from the hole (or rather man made crater). Again, carrying a multi-ton battery back beneath the ores is not an option (not to mention charging issues).
