On the other hand there are a lot of “unnecessary” uses of fossil fuels (flights, hotels, shipping gadgets over the ocean, driving to work/weekends, manufacturing tons of garbage etc). which could be shed. It is true however, that the fall in fossil fuel production will not stop once we get rid of these unnecessities so eventually all uses must stop in time.
