I do believe that "collapse" of industrial civilization is inevitable due to a large number of factors:
Although it's very important to note here, that its collapse will (hopefully) not mark the end of the world: it would give people the chance - once again - to experiment with different social structures, other than capitalism, and adopt truly sustainable technologies (not possible at scale in the current system).
