I agree with you that the topic of peak oil will be simply left out of the pubic discussion. Apart from denial people simply cannot wrap their head around the idea that something so vital to our modern human life can be taken away without our consent, or without someone somewhere coming up with a solution. People crave for stories with good guys (investors/innovators) vs bad guys (stupid policy wonks, or evil dictators starting wars).

Maybe it was the title what made you think that I was referring to the Peak Oil movement - as you also explained I see no chance in reviving that movement - I was simply referring to the geological fact of oil soon to be peaking not only from a supply but also from a net energy perspective. It is the scientific reality which is coming back, whether people recognize it as such or not (as it can be seen now).
