I agree that there is a great deal of uncertainty with regards to when we are about to hit a peak (my guess is that we have already hit it in 2019 and this is the reason we cannot recover to that level ever since). We will be much smarter by the end of this decade as to increasing production from unconventional sources helps to push peak out, or give us more net energy. As usual though, I'm highly skeptical about both.
