Brilliant article, giving a real life example how complex adaptive systems behave in real life. This point made me wonder however. While it's true, that plans, blueprints, books, music (i.e.: intellectual property) can be stored and copied indefinitely, raw materials cannot. Artificial diamond manufacturing as well as lab grown food, requires a) material inputs, b) a tremendous amount of energy (much more than extracting natural diamonds, or growing crops). Thus material costs won't change, while energy bills go up significantly...
