Although I agree with general statements in the article, the above sentence contradicts with an earlier statement of exhausting non-renewable resources. Yes, gas and oil is peaking and we will run out of them, just like copper, zinc, and other essential metals used to build "renewables". Combined with the fact, that we are still using fossil fuels to mine them, it is all but guaranteed at this point that a renewable transition remains a pie in the sky... Forever.

I would rather opt for the second option: build community resilience and learn to live with gradually less energy and stuff. Get used to it: high energy modernity has entered its phase of long descent.
